Support, Connection, and Summer Fun for Kinship Families
Kinship Summer Camp is a unique, supportive program designed specifically for children being raised by relatives, such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, or older siblings, in kinship care arrangements. Our camp combines the fun and adventure of a traditional summer camp with the understanding and structure that kinship families need to thrive. With the support of Direction Home of Eastern Ohio, the camp is FREE for kinship families.
Who the Camp Serves
This program is open to children and youth, ages 5-10, in kinship care, providing them with:
- A safe, inclusive space to build friendships and self-confidence
- Structured activities that support emotional wellness, teamwork, and creativity
- Positive role models and trauma-informed staff
- Daily routines designed to promote stability and reduce stress

- Outdoor play and recreation
- Arts, crafts, and music
- STEM and learning activities
- Group games and social skill-building
- Mindfulness and emotional wellness sessions
- Supportive peer interactions in a nurturing environment
- Free transportation for children living in Youngstown
