What to Expect from an Autism Evaluation
Our evaluations are thorough, evidence-based, and tailored to each individual. They typically include:
Step 1: Referral
Referrals can be made by a physician or the child's primary caregiver.
Step 2: Diagnostic Assessment
A licensed therapist will conduct a diagnostic interview that lasts approximately one hour. During this appointment, we will gather information about your child's development.
Step 3: Developmental Testing
Our clinical team will conduct developmental testing, including using a play-based assessment tool called the ADOS. They will also assess your child’s need for additional testing by a speech or occupational therapist.
Step 4: Diagnostic Determination
You will meet with our clinical team to review your child's test results. During this appointment, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and review recommendations from our clinical team. They will offer recommendations for next steps in treatment and intervention.
Step 5: Care Coordination
The final step of the assessment process includes meeting with our social worker to link your child to treatment.
